"That I cannot do."
"Give this to, uh, Clemenza. I want reliable people, people who aren't going to be carried away. After all we're not murderers in spite of what this undertaker thinks."

Remember...#4 BUCKSHOT is different than #4 shot.
Treat me good, I'll treat you better. Treat me bad, I'll treat you worse.
If you're using turkey loads for HD and you want to guarantee the BG can't grab his weapon and fire back...aim for his hand. Just my opinion. I've read that only 1 Buck or bigger will penetrate to vital organs - seems reasonable considering the size of the pellets, especially when you factor in clothes. I don't think there are any guarantees - but my shotgun is loaded with 5 00 Buck and 2 slugs. I think I have pretty good odds of being able to stop a threat with it.
Austin
My Mossburg 590 is usually loaded with two #4 federal 2.75 inch, over three federal 2.75 inch OO Buck, over two federal slugs. Escalation of force.![]()
Hmmm..........is Hornady lying about it's products?
From Hornady's website!
"Superior tactical buckshot designed specifically for protection from deadly threats. Loaded specifically to ensure proper functioning in semi-auto and pump shotguns, Hornady's TAP FPD Buckshot delivers the tightest patterns of any buckshot on the market."
If the Hornady LE is better, why don't they just say that! A sale is a sale, why would they care which product?
Welcome to Tennessee, the patron state of shootin' stuff.--SHOOTER
The distance inside your house will allow very little pattern spread.

I'm sure there is better on the market but I've got a ton of S&B 00 buck so thats what I use. I back them up with 2 3/4" Brennekes.
If you want great patterns from buckshot, try the Federal "Flite Control" loads. The low recoil civilian (read, easy to find) load is PFC154 (Low Reciol, you must specify). Patterns from a HD gun are exceptional. Shot from our behind-the-counter cylinder choke Mossberg 500 at the gunshop, it could put all pellets into a coffee cup at 60 feet. Get similar fantastic patterns from their birdshot and turkey loads if HD birdshot is your thing. Try the PFC156 in #4 size. A premium Copper plated lead shot load with the Flite Control wad. Nothing out there patterns like this stuff. If you need a slug, the Low Recoil Truball slug is accurate in everything I have shot it in, Benelli, Mossberg, and 870. #PB127LRS. If you have access to LEO ammo, they have equvalent buck and slug loads, but the performance is the same, really.
