    UMC ammo any good?

Wal Mart has UMC ammo at 48.95 per 250. I think that is a great price considering the cost of ammo these days. Here the Win white box goes for 16.95 per 100. Question is this good ammo for say a Walther P1, Walther P99c and CZ75BD for pratice.

    Cool

48.95 per 250 makes it 9.79/50. The WWB is 16.95/100, so that's 8.48/50. Is the UMC worth an extra 1.31 a box of 50? In my opinion no. However, the WWB is a little less powerful in my experience compared to UMC.

My P99s, P7s, Kahr PM9, Walther PPS and most of my other 9mm pistols like either.

I've had issues with WWB in my 1911 9mms.

    Either is fine range ammo.

Remington UMC ammo used to be terrible - it came in a yellowish box and was junk.
The last few years - in the green and yellow box- it has been first rate, consistant, reliable, good bullet designs and very affordable.
I have several boxes right now in .45 ACP, 9mm, .38Spl and .357 Mag. I have never had any problems with this ammo, and I use it for carry in .45 ACP and 9mm, and in longer barrel .38 spl. I have been using it for several years.
    Buy it.

the UMC hollowpoint is a cheap reliable hollowpoint. i know a lot of folks that use it for practice and carry. i will usually fire it at the range, but i prefer carrying 115gr WWB hollowpoints, much less muzzle flash.

WWB here in FL is 19.88/100. If that were the case, YES it'd be worth it.

For range use, the cheapest is always the best. For competitive, or defensive use - get what you can afford.

I'll shoot either wwb or umc for training. Which ever's cheaper at the time.

In days past probably 5 to 6 years ago, I praticed with this brand. I notice on paper target I was getting frangments on my targets. I am pretty sure the copper jacket was coming apart while exiting the barrel. I use USA target rounds now.

I use UMC all the time. The "new" UMC seems to be a very reliable practice round

I have put well over 5k rounds of umc through my G19 and it still goes bang. Still no FTF or any hiccups. Also it not too dirty and i buy the case price so it not too unreasonable. The way i was raised was that if it aint broke dont fix it.

Glad to hear they've changed it. I stopped using the old yellow box fmj years ago after I noticed I was getting a lot of bullet setback while chambering at the range. It was fairly dirty and foul smelling as well. If it's changed then I might give it another try sometime.
