    TAP

Picked up a box of Hornady .45+P 230gr TAP FPD ammo in a trade today. Besides being a very pretty round, what can you guys tell me about it?

Their site didn't tell me much. Anyone have any experience with it?

Found this on Hornady's web site. The complete chart is here.
While the numbers for this round seem to be believable, there are some obvious errors in their complete chart. They list muzzle energy for the 45 Auto+P 200 gr. TAP-FPD at 949 ft/lb . If that's right, I'm running out and stocking up.

    It's what I carry.

    There's a gelatin test (XTP - it's close) here:

    230 grain Hornady +P XTP

It's pretty snappy like any other +P.

230+P TAP is my carry load.
I have never had a problem with FTF or FTE, shoots accurate, but it does have a sharp recoil.

I use the TAP-FPD in .40, and it is a very accurate round. The XTP bullet has a sharper ogive/smaller meplat which helps in some more finicky guns in feeding into the chamber. Doesn't expand quite as much as Gold Dots, Golden Sabers, or Rangers. Couldn't tell any difference in feeding speed of their black nickel coated cases vs. other plain nickel coated cases like the GD's or GS's. One of my favorite "reasonably priced" ammo's overall.

    Yes...they are very sexy.

I should be posting some gun porn that includes my TAP ammo soon... I just have a bunch of family and friend photos to process first.

Very accurate and felt recoil seemed mild for a +P rnd.
