It depends on a few variables, every range trip I shoot one mag of my carry rounds, if that's the last of that brand, so be it, I've got plenty more brands at home that I load the mag up when I get home.
I generally prefer Rem. 230gr Golden Sabers, but I've Hydra Shocks and HSTs in the ammo box.
There's no real rhyme or reason to it other than if I run out of "X", I'll use "Y" until I get more of "X"
I love DPX but... Federal HST has some great ballistics and it feeds more reliably in my 1911's so I switched. I rotate my SD ammo about every 3-4 months.![]()
ALWAYS carry! - NEVER tell!

I've done it lately because I'm still learning about .45 ACP defense ammo. I don't like the recoil with +P, so I'm trying to decide between Federal HS 230 grain or Winchester SXT 230 grain.
I carry whatever is least expensive from any major brand so long as it is reliable & accurate.
While I have preferences, I'm not picky.
When the weather turns cold I load up Cor-bon power ball rounds. In the spring I replace these with hollow points, Golden Sabre or STX.
Absolutely not. It's because my life will depend on the utter reliability of that ammo in that gun. If I were to switch, I'd have to go through the vetting process again, in order to prove that the ammo/gun was a good match. Seems a collossal waste of time, unless the new ammo is markedly improved (for the task) or the old ammo has a proven deficiency.

NRA, GOA, OFF, ACLDN.
I shoot nothing but Cor-Bon power balls and change them out with fresh ammo every 6 months. The old rounds usually get shot in an IDPA match so I can shoot the defense ammo in a realistic situation.....

No.
I spend a significant amt of time and effort to find a combination of round, weapon, and magazine that meets my defensive needs and is as close to 100% reliable as I can get it. Once I find it, I don't mess with it.
Same here. My load feeds in every 1911 I have (and even a baby Glock). I went through hundreds of dollars finding my favorite. It has tremendous ballistics and is a proven load. You couldn't make me change.
Treat me good, I'll treat you better. Treat me bad, I'll treat you worse.
Depends on what the LGS has at the time.
I'm with you guys above, no change for me either.
Carry ammo is exclusively Corbon DPX in .45 ACP and 9MM.
Why? Because it works to a high degree and runs in every thing I've owned to date.
HD ammo I keep two mags x8 of Federal JHP .45 just for said use.
When I notice set back in a cartridge from being loaded multiple times I'll toss it in my ranges fire box but otherwise I don't rotate ammo because there is no reason to. It's not like this stuff goes bad or has an expiration date.

Don't change either.
I used to carry Golden Sabres, but when I bought a new Les Baer, I began experimenting.
(No particular reason, except that I get bored easily.)
The Baer likes HSTs - so do the Colts. Plus I like the ballistics.
HST for me.
I shoot 230 grn HST's in my 45,now my slinghot will use just about any rock i pick up.Besides i saw picks of the guy shot himself in the leg with HST's and the round stayed pretty much intact thru 2 entry and exits.very nasty wounds and had it been COM he'd probably be pushing up daisys
