I avoid hollowpoints, prefering to go for reliable penetration in marginal rounds like .380 ACP. Here's what I'm using in the P3AT when I tote it.

The Santa Barbara stuff chronographed 1032 FPS from the short barreled P3AT and offers great penetration. It seems to be sorta "+P" in performance. The slightly concave blunt nosed bullet may offer a bit more "splat" when it hits.

    Federal FMJ

I agree with the penetration guys. You won't get much penetration with hollow points in .380. So, I usually have Federal American Eagle FMJ.

Very nice ammo, considering it is 24+ years old. Only issue I have had with it is, wrinkled case mouths preventing rnds to feed. I have had 6 in 15 boxes I acquired. The problem is noticeable if you look for it, I still have 3 boxes left.

    I still like GS's.

Rhinokrk; Thanks for the tip. I've got eight of the little 25-round boxes of it and, after reading your post, I examined them for wrinkled case mouths but didn't detect any. Have used quite a lot of it and it's consistent and reliable and will work well for my purposes.

No problem, mine may have been a bad batch. But like I said it's a good rnd, second best mentioned on this thread. I'm sure it will serve you well, as it has me.

Rhinokrk, If Santa Barbara is the second best, what's the best?

For me it's the Remington 102gr Golden Saber JHP. Heavier bullet weight, reliable expansion, excellent penetration.

Sorry I am coming late to the party, from everything I have read lately the GSs are getting better penetration against bone and whatnot and now seem to be the choice overall for any .380. I would probably give the Corbon DPX a close second place. The GSs are expanding and giving penetration at the same time. One could not ask for anymore out of the little Remingtons.

Remington 102gr Golden Saber JHP in the LCP's. Heh, I want to post that .380 test sheet again, but I've already posted it twice in different .380 threads! It's in the "poll" thread if anyone is interested.

It is utterly illogical to believe that passing laws to reduce gun violence will be successful when those who are commiting the gun violence do not obey the law.
