SCGunGuy is the goto guy! I bought an ample supply of my favorite 9mm defense round, the SXT 124 Grain +P, from SCGunGuy. Good to deal with. And he had it when noone else did.
SCGunGuy - what is the skinny on the 127 grain +p+ compared to the 124 grain +p ?? Any numbers on velocity and fp energy? Any info. why 2 bullets are offered in very close weight? Not that I'm specifically looking for the 127 +p+, but if reasons were compelling, i might buy some for trial use.
My understanding of it is that Winchester didn't have a 124 grain offering until a major police department (may have been NYCPD, but I'm not sure) set a requirement for a 124 grain +P round when looking for a new service round. Hence, Winchester developed the RA9124TP.
Re: velocity #s, see the following stats from Winchester's catalog:
Like everyone else said it. T-Series are the new line for 40 and 45. For the 9s, it's not out yet I believe that's why I asked. Last generation of sxt is calls "4th generation." T-Series is considered 5th generation. I saw the expanded bullet from T-Series which was very impressive. It didn't fold all the way back like talon or sxt but only half way down. Looks like shuriken throwing blade that ningas use.
Just read on another forum that Winchester got a new contract with the FBI and are now supplying them with 40 and 9mm Ranger-T ammo. That is supposedly why you can't get any right now.
My carry ammo is the RA45T and RA9124TP, all my boxes have SXT on the end of the box. So these are the old stock and I need to shoot them all up and buy the new model? I hope they don't change the shape of the bullet nose. Mike
the shape of the bullet on 5th generation is a little bit sharper than 4th generation sxt that you have. I have a pic that compares them two but dont know where it is right now. I'll post it if I find it.
You're welcome. The first set are PDF files you can download and print out to read when ever. Hope they are helpful to you.
