Hollow Point Accuracy?
Anybody ever practice with hollow points? If so, did you notice any degredation in accuracy? I'm curious because the hollow points seem to be quite a bit more aerodynamically different than snub or round nose bullets.
Obviously, they are a heck of a lot more expensive, but perhaps we should put a few boxes through just to check the aim?

I haven't noticed any accuracy degradation, but I would certainly run a few boxes of your carry ammo through your gun to make sure they function correctly.

At the distances we typically shoot, the HP's make little or no difference. There can and probably will be a difference due to human error though, and typical range ammo is not loaded as hot as the life insurance stuff is.
The biggest factor in accuracy or "aim" as you put it is your mechanics of the fundamentals of shooting.

Some hollow points are more accurate for my gun than are others. That said, I've been next to somebody at the range with an identical gun with opposite results.
You should absolutely run a box of your carry ammo through any gun you plan on carrying. Both for accuracy and reliability. Reliability being the more important of the two.
I have also been next to somebody with an identical weapon and what would feed reliably in mine would not in theirs. I won't say it happens often, but I won't trust my life to what might work. I won't even assume one box is the same as the next. I will put at least 1-2 magazines of a particular box of ammo through my carry weapon, and will keep the other half of the box for carry ammo. I will not chamber the same round more than twice. After the second time it gets put in the range bag to shoot next time I go.
Maybe I am a little more on the extreme side than most, but I think everybody would at least recommend you run 50-100 rounds of your carry ammo before you decide to use it.

If anything defensive JHP aught to be more accurate than practice ball due to its better manufacturing in order to achieve consistent performance on impact.

I train with hollow points nearly every time I'm out, yes. Not all rounds, but a reasonable percentage. If I didn't, I could not be certain my gun would work smoothly with them.
Degraded accuracy? Not that I've seen.

FMJ or JHP...I use both and have never noticed a difference.
I always shoot some of what I intend to use for a SD round.

If the distance is great enough that the minute difference in accuracy matters then we should be able to get out of there.

For practice ammo, I use mostly WWB FMJs, which are quite accurate in my guns. There are 2 brands of JHPs that I shoot, and both are a bit more accurate than the WWB, but the difference is really only noticable when shooting off a rest and the JHP are primium ammo at a much higher price than the WWB.

I haven't noticed any difference either.

Hollow Point Accuracy?
Probably better accuracy, having said that, quality counts.

I'm a little suprised that most of you guys don't see an accuracy difference between JHP and range ammo.
I can usually see an accuracy difference between .1 gn of powder or where my crimp is on my reloads.
I also notice that once-fired brass out of my gun is more accurate than once-fired brass out of somebody else's gun. Maybe I'm imagining it, but I believe I have noticed a difference in just about every load I have ever shot.
