    .380

Everybody I work with that carries a Kel Tec in .380 (that would be most everybody I work with, BTW) carries the Gold Saber 102gr. It expands into a flat, sharp shape from the short barrel. It also is heavier than the average .380 which gives it more momentum to cycle the slide. If you have a less-than-perfect hold or your gun is dirty full of pocket lint this will help it cycle.
    Remington Golden Saber HPJ

We did a bit of testing in wet newspaper covered with cloth. The Hydra Shok expanded pretty consistantly, but the mushroom was smaller and more rounded without the flat face of the GS. A lot of the edges broke off. The Silvertips only expanded on one side before they started to tumble. The Gold Dot underexpanded in my opinion. The XTP hardly ever expanded. The (not the Talon series) SXT expanded and had a flat face and sort of sharp edges, but expanded much less than the GS. FWIW, we don't measure penetration due to variations in our unscientific test medium.

In my "stopping power" opinion it would be down to the GS and the Hydra Shok. The Hydra Shok fragments a little so it might make some secondary wounds, pick that if that sounds like what you want. If you like a flat faced expanded bullet with sharp edges to crush and tear as much tissue as possible, pick the GS.

The GS avgs just under 800fps out of my p3at. Saw some chronograph results somewhere listing it higher out of lcp (855fps). DPX avgs 1020fps. GS penetrates more, DPX expands more (wetpack test). Had a few GS that didn't expand much, some none but most did fine. Same results w/ Hydrashocks as Superhouse 15.
Which is best? DPX is impressive w/consistent expansion. GS feels like it hits harder w/ extra 22 grs. One day I like DPX best, next day GS. Which ever load is reliable and shoots best for you is probably best load. More I learn, the less I know!

Yep, great expansion combined with good penetration not to mention heavier bullet weight = winner.

Ive got a Kel Tec 380 and it likes Speer Gold Dot HP 90gr. But then again I have always been kinda partial to Speer.

+1 for the Golden Sabers. They function flawlessly through my 380s (Kel-Tec P3AT, Ruger LCP, Browning BDA, Beretta 86, PPK). In my less than scientific tests expansion has been consistent and reliable and even with only 6" of penetration, that is still enough to reach vitals (baring a bone hit) even on someone as fat as me. If you wanted the nastiest 380 ammo available, Buffalo Bore has a +P load loaded with a 90 gr. Speer Gold Dot bullet with a claimed velocity of 1175 fps and 276 ft lbs of energy (1100 fps from a Kel-Tec). I don't think I'd want to subject any of my 380s to a steady diet of this stuff, but it may be a consideration as a carry round.

    Gold Dots here.
    Used twice. Double Taps.
    Stopped the assailant.

    Still use them.

I got my wife an LCP and found out the corbon hollow points will not feed in it. I think i'm going to get some of the remington golden sabers.

More an issue of availabilty vs. variety, unless I drive 200+ miles.
