I need a source for .44 mag SMJ, FMJ 230gr.

My Desert eagle is a picky eater, not to mention expensive. I have to have either SMJ or FMJ, 230 gr. or higher. Straight lead shot will clog the gas port, lower charge will FTF.

I have been trying to find a online source for ammo with not much success. I can get American Eagle 230 gr. SMJ HP (50 ct) for $25 locally, but they rarely have them in stock. I also need to get a fresh batch of Hydra Shocks (mine are 10+ years old).

Anybody know any sites that sell for $20ish per 50 and won't kill you on the shipping?

Sounds like you're looking for a good deal. I don't think you'll find it. I would look at some of the big reloading type sites - MidwayUSA, Brownells, NatchezSS for a start. There is .45 ACP going for $20/50, so I would expect to pay close to $1 a round for .44 Mag.

If you are looking for cheap ammo in the big calibers you might want to take a look at reloading. With the cost of copper and brass going up the prices for ammo are only going to go up. Now might be a good time to make the investment on equipment.

I wish I were selling where you are; copper prices (and therefore brass prices) are going down.

I watched ten boxes of 44mag go for $150 on auction yesterday.
The preceding post may contain sarcasm; it's just better that way. However, it is still intended with construction and with the Love of my L-rd Y'shua.
