When you’re wounded and left on Afghanistan’s plains,
And the women come out to cut up what remains,
Just roll to your rifle and blow out your brains,
And go to your God like a soldier.

'C'mon guys...if you don't get anything on the primers that could affect them, that ammo is gonna last longer than you will, even if you just turned 21.

(and even the WD40 thing seems to be an urban gun myth, at least with current ammo).

Well, for me it's like this. I chamber and unload at least once a day with my carry pistol, ammo and mag. Least I carry is 10 rounds or 9+1. I ease the slide home on chambering a round for the first time that particular day most of the time. Being that I am aware now of "bullet set-back", my current carry ammo is probably way overdue. I do rotate my carry rounds throughout the magazine, and rotate magazines whenever I feel the time is right. If one was to leave a chambered round in for six months without cycling, I'd say it would be okay. For someone like me, 60 days might be time to shoot it up. As has been gone over here many times before......extreme temperature differences and mere age don't really seem to be a contributing factor. If you see rust spots on your brass, it's probably time to change it out. I used to think keeping magazines loaded for extended periods was hard on the springs. This forum as well as many other researched archives tells me that my previous worries were rather unfounded. Carry or PD ammo costs more than practice ammo. To each his own pretty much, so long as you feel comfortable with it. Glocks are my mainstay and from what I hear, my pistols could blow up at any time with any ammo. I visually inspect my carry ammo every time it's out of the pistol/mag. Excessive scratches on the case or discoloration of the jacket tell me for sure it's time to fire or forget.
