    Brand Name Ammo Question....

Like many of you I'm looking for some practice ammo and obviously I want to save money and find a bargin but not the bottom of the barrell cheap for fear of it ruining my gun. I was on a site called "AMMUNITION TO GO.COM" and came across a brand called "BROWN BEAR" ammo. Has anybody used this and what is your opinion please.
    Thanks for your advice.

What are you going to shoot it in? That alone would help alot. For pistols, I'd stick with anything that's brass cased.

Here you got me quoting myself! Save the Russian milsurp, steel cased ammo for the AK's and SKS's. Just my advice.

This is steel cased...is there a big difference? Will this damage my gun compared to brass cased?
    Thanks again.

Steel cases expand but don't retract as much as brass cases so they are more likely to stick in the chamber. I would think that the effect it has would depend on the type of pistol. The U.S. Military used to issue steel cased .45ACP There also used to be a lot of instances of broken extractors. It may or may not have been because of steel cases. I personally stay with ammo that has brass cases in my pistols.

I use only aluminum cased Blazers for practice due to their low price and I have never had a malfunction of any kind with my Kimber. I feel safe in using them because I know the soft case won't hurt my extractor. I'v heard that some AR manufacturers will void the warranty if steel cased ammo is used.

I dont use steel cased ANYTHING. Its just not worth the problems it could cause.

I use CCI Blazer Brass for pistol practice and PMC Bronze, Federal American Eagle or Lake City brands of rifle ammo (AR-15).

For my Ruger 10/22 I use Federal, CCI or Remington.
I am consistently on record and will continue to be on record as opposing concealed carry.

When I want to shoot some practice stuff with my 9mm, I do use steel case Wolf Ammo (Russian Made), and have never had a jam or problem with the stuff. I've also used Wolf .380's with similar results. Just my 2 worth.
