Does 500 rounds of each caliber in defense rounds and an unknown number of target ammo (numbering in the thousands, perhaps 5,000) seem like a reasonable amount of ammunition for someone who does not go to the range weekly? I honestly shoot 100 rounds a month of each caliber and that's about it. Not a lot of free time these days.
    Thats a good start.

Fact of the matter is, in a true SHTF situation what will matter is what you can carry on you.

If its that bad and you live though it, there will be plenty laying around that you might have to scavenge up.

Well, I'm not one of the types who always think the end is coming and go crazy. I'm just stocking up on what I use in case of prices moving upward. Any more than 10 cases of ammo and I don't have much room unless I start clearing the closet out.

If I had a million rounds of every round I use, I'd still want more.

The question isn't about how much you can carry, how much you'll need in a bug out scenario, or how much you'll need to hunker down IMO.

Your guns are paperweights without ammo, why do you think the libs are looking at costing it so high with taxes that most won't be able to afford to shoot to begin with.

You can buy it now, or you can pay 500%+ later for the same ammo plus the federal taxes. They've learned they can't ban the guns, but they've also learned well that they can tax the crap out of components so most will be restricted to very little on hand or won't be able to shoot the guns they can't ban.

Guns without ammo are paper weights. Buy it fast and store it deep, the day is coming when you'll think you could have afforded more and didn't stockpile it higher.

Me? I've got enough for a small war and supplying a company of men for a month if necessary. I just grabbed another pallet of 9mm [ no telling how many rds in a pallet right? ] No one needs to know the numbers on an open forum here.

When you have to add lolly columns to the floor joists to keep them from sagging...then it's time to consider whether or not you have adeqate ammo...

That's quite a stash. Are as well prepared with food, water, and other emergency supplies?
