    Question Winchester Ranger Ammo LEO

I have a box of Winchester Ranger LEO 9mm. It appears to have a steel cartridge or is it aluminium? It's 127 grain and +P+. My Kahr is rated as +P. How much of a reach if using the +P+?

Got a magnetic? I would go +P+ unless the gun is rated for it. You could wind up seriously hurt.

I seriously doubt if it's steel,if it's shiny silver then it's nickel plated brass

The ranger is nickel plated. Check with Kahr about the ammo.

I'm sure plenty of shooters have used +P+ ammo with no problems, but personally, I won't use it. Why? Because as I understand it, and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, SAAMI has no +P+ rating for any cartridge. There are +P pressure standards for some cartridges, but not +P+. Consider that the SAAMI pressure for a standard 9mm is 35,000 psi and a 9mm+P is 38,500 psi. If that increase would be the same for a +P+ round, that would put a 9mm+P+ in the range of 42,000 psi. A 44 magnum tops out at 36,000 psi. If I were to shoot any +P+ 9mm, it would only be in a full steel firearm, no polymer or alloy frames.

The cases, I believe are actually brass even though they have a silver color. The Gold Dots are the same way. I contacted Kahr about shooting +P+ out of my CW9 and they told me they only rate the pistol to +P but they have heard of lots of people shooting +P+ without any problem.

Nickel plated brass. As far as shooting +P+, it probably wouldn't be a problem, but why take the chance. Any damage to your gun, or any injuries caused to you or another, your gun manufacturer will rightfully deny any responsibility.
