    Winchester 9mm Luger 147 GR JHP Hollow-Point

This Ammo is listed as personal protection ammo that I buy from Wall Mart. Would you consider this as a proper ammo for personal protection that would appropriately stop a BG if need or should I look at something else in a 9mm ?

I don't know if Grain difference I should consider. I know the cliche of "its not the size of the bullet but how you place the shot"

Having said that, if your first shot is not well placed to drop him, but you need to cause enough trauma shock so that you can squeeze another round, what would you recommend ?

This is for a Kahr TP9

This is what I carry in my G26. Since most SD situations occur under 21' I think this particular load would be more than sufficient to "get the BG's attention". Just my opinion.
Sometimes in life you have to stand your ground. It's a hard lesson to learn and even most adults don't get it, but in the end only I can be responsible for my life. If faced with any type of adversity, only I can overcome it. Waiting for someone else to take responsibility is a long fruitless wait.

I prefer Speer Gold Dot for my carry rounds, however Winchester does make some excellent ammo. Its a bit cheaper to practice with as well....and easier to find.

Its not a bad round. If you like it, its reliable in your weapon, and you can shoot it well....stick with it.

My only question, to which I do not have the answer, is whether the 147 grain is a bit heavy for the TP9 barrel thus inadequate expansion?

Any ballistics folks out there want to educate me? I have no experience with either the ammo or the weapon, just curious.

I just bought 300 rounds of the 147 WWB JHP and will be doing a wet phone book test in the coming weeks and will post my pics when I do. At $15 per box it is a lot cheaper than SXT and if it performs equally I will have a new EDC ammo for the Walther PPS.

    147gr

I'm not a big fan of subsonic ammo and short barrels personally. I did get a deal on a bunch of this ammo a while ago and I kept a few boxes for SHTF ammo. It would be for a Glock 19, though. Winchester loads a 115gr JHP in the White Box line and I'd prefer to use that IF I was going to use a discount ammo for SD in a snub.

    and
Speer Gold.Dot 9MM Luger 115 GR GDHP for my Kahr TP9

I hope I done right for SD. I also hope that it won't go through the walls and hit my neighbor.

Don't practice in your home and you don't have to worry about hitting your neighbor. If you ever have to shoot in SD hit your target and you should be fine.
Just remember that shot placement is much more important with what you carry than how big a bang you get with each trigger pull.

I carry Speer GD 124 gr +p in my Glock 19. If you like the Winchester I would recommend the 127 gr +p+.

My glocks are loaded with it and I like it. It's priced decent and I like 147 grain
ammo because it's subsonic.Everybody has opinions of what they like so I would recommend you try several different brands and weights and see what you like.Don't get caught in advertising hype for brand x versus y as it's about
what works in life in death situations!

It travels slower than the speed of sound, which is around 1100fps. It varies a bit depending on temperature, barometric pressure, and elevation.
