don't think so. they had some for the 357 mag and up. but i could be wrong, but i don't recall seeing any for the 38sp. maybe some other old timer can remember if they made them. come to think about it i was never in the market for any, no matter the cal.

It's shotshell, 135 pellets of #9 shot. You don't carry it as SD ammo.

It's for snake, or rats, or whatever....but you don't want to shoot a snake from 15 ft away.

I used the 38/357 shotshells last year to dispatch a couple of black snakes that were trying to set up house in my basement. At about 10ft., they made quick work of the snakes which were between 5 & 6 feet long. (I know, they were just black snakes but I HATE SNAKES!!)

I've done several patterning tests with the 38/357 CCI shotshells. While I'm very impressed, and do carry it in my camping S&W I would HIGHLY not recommend trying it from 15 feet. Maybe 10.

Speer makes a 38cal shot capsule if you want to reload your own. Just add shot and load them like normal. There's load data on the back of the box for them. Personally I like a nice pointy shovel for rattlers, of course we only have the little desert rattlers here (3 to 4 foot)

They'll kill a rattler if you shoot the head/neck area. I used to always carry one or two in the cylinder of my revolver when fishing or galavanting through the woods in FL. I never tried it from 15 ft away though. usually more like 4 or 5 feet.

BTW, if you handload you can buy the shot cups and just use #9 birdshot pellets. I have never done it, but I recently saw the shot cups for sale in a reloading catalog I was perusing. Seems like you'd need some type of wad between the shot and powder, but I don't know. Just thought I'd mention it. May be worth looking into, or maybe not.

The capsules make a potent close up self defense load if stuffed with OO buck and loaded with a healthy dose of your favorite powder. If memory serves me right I believe the capsules will hold 3 of the OO buckshot each. That would be 15 .32 caliber holes in a BG from a 5 shot snubby. Hummm, that sounds a lot like what some of you 9mm guys are packing.

Yes they work on rattlers, but get a little closer.
