There are no flies on an Enfield. I have three and they're powerful and effective rifles. For long haul use if stuck without proper maintenance or access to any spare parts, I'd feel more confidence in the Enfield than I would the AR. I also have had an AR for many years and don't share the current enthusiasm for it that most have.

I hand load exclusively for mine .303s so am not current on best ammo. deals.

Roll your own. I've got two Enfields and trying to find ammo at a reasonable price is nigh impossible.

When I buy bulk I usually buy from wideners. It looks like they have some .303 Brit in stock.

Try to Sportsmans Guide or Century International Arms. Most of the stuff they have will be FMJ surplus, but I have got SP from both before in the past.

As you probably know stay away from the POF .303 as supposedly it is questionable with hang fires and duds. The stuff makes good cheap target rounds but like I said you have to watch out for hang fires. As for factory ammo I have had excellent luck with Seller & Bellot.

Surplus .303 is getting hard to come by. but many companies make hunting loads for it. I know a few people that are thinking of setting up a factory to make cheap .303 and 7.62x54 I hope they do it.

it is not too hard to find, but you have to keep our eyes open. It is truly a great cartridge to handload for though. Keep the loads short of hot and the brass will last longer. While there are not a ton of bullets out there, there are plenty - how many you need? You don't need 100 choices, just two that shoot well (practice and hunting) Look at Sierra and Hornady - both have great choices. Regular old softpoint is what is going to work best at these velocities anyway. It is not the hardest hitting or the flattest shooting, but it hits hard and shoots flat enough for anything you would want to do.

I have a 300wm that i bought as my first hunting rifle. Now about two boxes of ammo pretty much cures my itch to shoot it. I am not real sensitive to recoil, but not a glutton for punishment either. I can shoot the .303 brit all day long.
