    Oh yeah can't forget those.

Or the "chopped pocket Star BM" with the armour piercing, pre-fragmented, hyper-sonic, cast zinc bullets as back up.

Personally, Ive seen what a M855 (green tip .223) round does out of a 11.5" barrel and let me tell you it wasn't pretty. This was from a 1:7 twist military barrel.

For up close and personal tactical situations, I would trust my life with it. Just a little extra 2¢

ETA: If you do go the shorty AR route, you will be better off geting that gas port hole opened up a little. More gas means better blowback in such a short barrel with AR's.

Warning on opening up a gas port like that be very careful with the 7-1/2' barrels and don't allow too much gas to vent back; it can cause the bolt to be torn in half. Make sure everything else is in proper spec and not adding to the problem.

As the former owner of a AR type Patriot Pistol I should know. Plus it having a tighter chamber than a regular AR didn't help matters either. An AR style firearm made to use only civi spec .223 makes alot of sense don't it?
