9mm Hornady JHP 147gr TAP FPD

I cannot find anybody on line or in town that has 9mm Federal HST in stock. Wound up at my favorite gun shop and discussed what they had with a couple of the guys and went home with two 25rnd boxes of Hornady JHP 147gr TAP FPD. Will test in my PM9 this weekend.

Does anyone have any info on this ammo?

Hornady is good stuff, but is a small manufacturer when compared to Remington, Speer, or Federal.

I don't have any ballistics data on the product but I bought a box and it fed well in my PPS. I am sure that it is good stuff considering that it is $1 per round. I moved to Winchester SXT for my EDC in both .40's and 9mm's.

Go here and your questions will be answered. The FBI gel test info with barrier penetration results is included.

    Adobe reader required.

I'll sum it up for you: 147 Grain Hornady Tap will do just fine; but look for the XTP bullet loaded by Black Hills as they sell in 50 round boxes instead of 25 round boxes for just slightly more $$.

My job uses the TAP ammo in 5.56. It works well and their "small manufacturer" QC is second to none.

over the pass several months ammo has been hard to find. many factors are the in the mix for the reason. the big one was the election in nov 07. people are buying it up to have some when things go bad.

Yeah, I've been watching the site and calling and haven't seen any 147g HST in over a month from ATG.

I've found the Hornady stuff to be of the highest quality...and super sccurate.
Contrary to popular belief, it expands quickly but the recovered expansion pics don't look as purty as something like the HST.
But it has a good track record and it'll get the job done. ;)

I have the Hornady TAP in 40 S&W and .223. You can tell just by looking at this ammo that the QC process is top notch. If you can wait, Hornady just announced a new personal defense ammo. It is listed on their site along with a video talking about it. It looks very interesting.
