Is the Winchester Supreme STX and the old Black Talon
the same bullet and what ,if any ,are the differences
between them.

Basically it's the same, I don't know for 100% sure on the regular Supreme SXT, but the Ranger T and the talon ar virtually identical.

As the projectile of the regular SXT and Talon are almost 100% identical, I'd gather that there's not much difference.

I have a box of Black Talons at home and a couple of boxes of Supreme SXTs, I'll take some comparison pics later this evening.

I think there is a difference between the "regular" SXT and the "Ranger T". IIRC the "SXT" originally stood for "Supreme eXpansion Talon". When the Black Talons got dropped because of all the hype they replaced them with nearly identical bullets that did not have the annealing done, so the "talons" would fold back like typical JHPs. At this point they had "Supreme eXpansion Technology". The Ranger T is the old Black Talon but without the black coating. As I understand it they say the Ranger is the "Same eXact Thing".

The way it was explained to me when I called Winchester is that the Ranger T is the equivelent of the old Black Talon without the Lubalox coating. The Ranger T and Black Talon both have 6 grooves / petals in the bullet head. The Ranger SXT is the civilian version of the Ranger T / Black Talon and has 8 grooves / petals in the bullet head.
