Gold Dots are one of the best SD bullets made!

I use 230gr HSTs in my .45 and 135gr +P Gold Dots in my J frame and I've also use Corbon DPX in .45 and Hornady TAP... all top SD ammo.

Gold Dots will do their job if you do yours!

I agree with Thumper. The Gold Dots are excellent rounds, I carried them until Federal came out with the HST. Of your choices in order of my preference:
    #1 Federal HST
    #2 Speer GD
    #3 Hornady
I find the Hornady very expensive so I pretty much avoid them.

Speer GD's are a fine choice, in 40 S&W I prefer the 165/155 gr over the 180gr whichever is in stock.

buy them while you still can. i hope for you they are the 50 round boxes as the 20 rounders are pricey.

My agency uses 180gr. Gold Dots. The last two officer involved shooting we had, there was one shot fired by the officer and one dead bad guy. First shooting was from 31' to the side of the head, bad guy dropped instantaneously and died two days later (never regained consciousness). Shooting number two, bad guy was shot under the left nipple once, dropped, and died 3 minutes later...I'm pretty convinced of their efficacy

Speer - High Quality Ammo - Great for SD. Very resistant to bullet set back.

124gr+p GDHP's is my preferred carry for my 9mm's, and I have the 180gr loaded in my G27 right now. I like 'em!
