Picked up some ammo at Walmart today...

    blazer brass 230gr fmj $14.97 50 rounds

    remington 230gr UMC $18.97 50 rounds

    winchester 185 gr FMJ $16.97 50 rounds

Those were the only three boxes of .45AUTO that they had. Seemed like a pretty good deal to me.

It is cheaper right now to order the stuff.

Tommorrow I will get in 2000 rds of Speer Lawman 9mm and 500 rds of the same in .45. The price shipped comes out to 10.87 per box of 9mm and 16.37 per box of .45.

Shipping works out to paying only 8% sales tax if you could find it for the same prices of 9.99 and 15.49 per box at the local store. Which right now it hasn't been available anywhere near that price.
Just remember that shot placement is much more important with what you carry than how big a bang you get with each trigger pull.

Here's the existing "Wal-Mart ammo thread...."

The CCI Blazer Brass is good stuff. The Remington UMC is remanufactured and IMO a last resort if nothing else is available.

I was told you have to also pay a hazardous materials shipping charge or something like that for ammo. Is this a lie?

How do you figure the UMC is remanufactured ammo? If you drive up I-40 to Lonoke, AR you can see the plant where they make it.

BTW, Blazer Brass seems not to have a tight enough crimp in the .45 cal. I get a lot of bullet setback on my 1911 with it.

Not intending on starting a practice ammo war, but these ammo's are just that practice ammo, and priced accordingly.

Yep, lie. Don't have to pay the fee for ammo.

If you order primer or powder, there is a $ 25 hazmat fee for either of them. Also they won't ship powder and primer together if you don't have a FFL, at least that is my understanding. So it adds up pretty quick. That is why I will buy ammo online but powder/primers locally usually.

I picked up 2 boxes (100 rds each) of .40 WWB. They've been out for the past few weeks, but today they had at least 10 boxes in addition to the Blazer (180 gr) that they always have. Did not see any 9mm or .38.

Then I will soon be ordering a case, if the price is right (received a few gift certificates from Midway).

Also makes me reconsider a forum sponsor:

Natchez has the best prices right now from what I could find. Lots of folks are out of stock currently.

I've seen a few posts on other forums stating that UMC is remanufactured, and it's a good possibility that I was simply repeating inaccurate info. A quick google search shows some of the posts in question, but overall I think you're right (it's not...).

I've got a good supply of .38 spl. & .45 acp. Been trying for more than a month to get some .357 mag's, finally found some. The store only had two boxes of Remington 125 gr. jhp., I bought them both before anyone else walked in. 50 round box, $44.00 each!!

The nice thing about them is if it is out of stock they will email you when it comes in.
