My guess is .40 S&W. I like the 165 gr. Golden Sabers.

Just in case your talking 38, a 158grn lswc is a great defense load.

The difference between 155 and 165 is not that great. Actual performance is about the same. Stick with Federal, Gold Dot or Winchester. Avoid the Remington Golden Saber as it tends to plug and act like FMJ.

I've never noticed a difference. I shoot either one.

Just about any of them are good. I carry 5 155 gr Rangers at the bottom of the well (I personally carry 8 84-gr Magsafe defenders at the top). I doubt that you would notice a big difference between any of them. Everyone makes quality ammo these days.

Actually, 180gr is the best, in the following order:

    1) HST
    2) Ranger T series
    3) Federal Tactical Bonded
    4) Gold Dot

Yours is one of the few posts where someone says they use Magsafe. I do also. They are too dang expensive for much practice, but they do really reduce the recoil. I keep 3-4 Magsafe at the top and 165 gr hollow points under. I keep a second mag with 180 fmj handy.

Good grief ain't that the truth! At about $2.25 a round you don't want to run a bunch down the barrel, but they are special-use SD so ta-daa. I have 8 84 grain defenders (1800 fps, 604 fpe) and then 5 155 gr Rangers at the bottom.

I love my Magsafe rounds. They make an absolute MESS of ballistics gel (we once played some games); maybe it is time to do that again, film it, and then post it.
