I have never shot this paticular rd., but see no reason why it would not be a good SD round. That's what it was created for.

I have not used the Hornady Critical defense ammo but I know the ballistics compare very favorably to the Cor Bon DPX which is considered as excellent.

One thing I know they are hard to find
From what I heave read they aren't as good as Hornady makes them sound.
For me Corbon DPX sounds like a better alternative.

I want to try them, but cannot find any.

Its hard to know how good they are because basically all we have to go on are ballistics tests. They can measure penetration and expansion but these are not in real-life situations. Often the best we can do is see how reliable and accurate these rounds are in our particular weapons. "On paper" the Hornady seems to stack up well against Cor Bon DPX. Do they really? Who knows? I know that Cor Bob DPX performs well in my guns. They are accurate and reliable and I have to rely on the ballistics tests to tell me whether or not if that I have to use them they will stop the BG.

CorBon DPX is a proven round. 100% copper bullet. Not jacketed. Maintains 100% of it's weight after penetration. No fragging.
I use them in my handguns. If something else comes along that is "proven" to be better, then I will change my SD round.
