Hornady Critical Defense
I just picked up some SD ammo from the Dick's Sporting Goods here in Indy. I haven't used them before and haven't been to the range yet to check them out, but thought I would grab them since it's getting harder and harder to find 9mm anywhere anymore. Anyone tried these yet and what do you think of them? They have a rubber core inside the HP tip that is supposed to guarantee full expansion under all conditions. They only had 115 gr. weight, would have preferred 124 gr or heavier.

I carry it in my 380. Runs through the P3at very nice. I would like to see some tests done on the 9mm.
Be careful what you wish for. You just might get it ......

Saw the ad in the NRA magazine; looks good on paper; I am going to get a couple boxes ........ if I can find some (9mm).
Any reports would be nice.

They should perform the same as ball ammo in your gun.

I think it is the same concept as Corbon's Powerball ammo. If your pistol will not feed hollowpoints, then either this or Powerball should be a great alternative.
God bless our troops!

Low recoil, minimal muzzle flash /blast. Excellent accuracy!

I can't wait to bust some through my Duty after it arrives.

It can look good on paper, make sense in the article, but the bottom line is how your pistola eats it.
It does look like it's worth trying. The real problem is trying to find some to experiment with...

Out of a 4in bbl they are running 1135fps I talked to a Hornady tech
You do not think the 9mm is effective? Then let me shoot at you.

All I know about them is that the ballistics test on them have been good. Have gotten good penetration and good expansion. I carry Cor Bon DPX and the Hornady compares well with the DPX and maybe a bit better.

The engineering focus for Hornady's CD round is reliability of expansion. It is achieved by doing things that are not obvious by just visual inspection nor simple ballistic gel tests. Although visually it appears they just poured a rubberized compound into the hole of a hollow point, there is more going on. The result is achieved by a combination of the formulation of the compound and the design of the hollow point head such that in combination, they achieve the reliability of expansion criteria.
It is my EDC in my LCP because it feeds reliably and because I'm an engineering nerd who is attracted by this kind of innovative approach.

I just saw this on Guns and Ammo TV the other night. Looked like a good option for the .380 if I can find some. (Can't get the smiles to work but would of inserted the ROFL one here)

From what I've heard the rubber tip is going to help with expansion through heavy clothing.
