9mm x 18 Makarov
I am new to this forum but appreciate the info on 9mm. Question: Is the 9mm x 18 Makarov suitable for regular 9mm weapons? I know it's Russian but I am unsure about using it in my 9mm Ruger SR9, Sig P250, Springfield XDm 9, or my Glock 26. Can you expand on the great info provided previously. I look forward to learning from all those who post here.
Thanks.

Since the bullet diameter is slightly larger on the 9X18 Makarov (.364) versus the 9X19 Parabellum (.356) I would say it isn't compatible, but the guys who reload should be able to help you with the question better than I can.

No, 9x18 Makarov and 9x19 Parabellum are two separate cartridges and will not work interchangeably. I believe the Russians did that purposefully so that captured Soviet Bloc ammunition could not be used against them.

you should not shoot 9mm ammo in a makarov type gun and/or makarov ammo in a 9mm gun. the 9X18 makarov bullet size is .364) versus the 9X19 parabellum size of .356. also the case on the makarov is shorter 9X18 versus the 9mm, 9X19. so the mak has a bigger bullet and a shorter case over the 9mm.

No 9mm Makarov is 9x18mm
9mm Luger (Parabellum) is 9x19mm
.380 ACP (9mm Short) is 9x17mm
Do not fire 9mm makarov in any gun not chambered for it.

Thank You! The information not only saved me money on a potential purchase but most likely saved my guns and possible someone ( me ) from getting injured.
I look forward to other discussions and info.
