Defective Rem Golden Saber .38 ?
I stopped by a Bass Pro Shop this afternoon as I was travelling, and I was pleased to see that they had some ammo in stock - Remington Golden Saber in pretty much all of the major calibers. I picked up a box of 9mm and a box of .38 and hit the road.
Once I got where I was going, I decided to switch out the basic Walmart-bought Remington hollowpoints in the 642 I was carrying with the Golden Sabers. As I was pulling the GS rounds out of the box, I first noticed that most of them were very dirty - lots of excess bullet lube or something all over the place. Not really a big deal.
I looked a little closer and noticed that every one of them has a very noticeable "defect" in the case - I say defect since I can't see why it would be there by design. I've never really seen anything like this on factory ammo. It's located on the side of each case, very close to the base. The mark is shaped like a broken "0" and is mostly consistent in appearance on each case - the consistency kinds makes me think it's normal, but I'm just not sure.
Does this sound normal or should I be concerned about it?
