    Ammo at Cabelas

I was at the Cabelas store in Kansas City this morning and they had all kinds of handgun ammo, even .380 acp. They had plenty of 9mm, .40 S&W and .45 acp. There is a five box per caliber per customer limit though. I bought five 50 round boxes of 9mm and five 50 round boxes of .380 Magtech 95 gr. FMJ for $18.99 a box. I thought I would pass this along to any member in the area looking for ammo for target practice or self defense.

P.S. They also have .223 ammo as well!
    God bless our troops!

I was at the one in Phoenix on the weekend. They had six boxes of .45ACP Golden Sabre. Other than that, the shelves were empty. Same thing at Bass Pro Shops too, except no .45.

How much was there 223? (not that I live in the area, just wondering what prices they have)

What were they selling the 9mm for? I don't like spending more than 20 cents a round for 9mm target ammo.

Maybe by putting limits on ammo purchases this will ease the ammo availability situation some. One of the store clerks stocking handgun ammo on the shelves (.45 acp WW white boxes BTW) told me that dealers were coming through and buying everything they had and turning right around and selling it at gun shows for double the price or more, especially any .380 acp ammo. That is why Cabelas has the 5 box limit per caliber rule.

They had PMC Bronze at $13.99 per 50 round box and Magtech Blue Line at $15.99 per 50 round box. Both 115 gr. FMJ. That comes out to .28 cents per round roughly for PMC Bronze.

PMC is made in South Korea and Magtech is made in Brazil in case anyone wants to know.

They seemed to have quite a few boxes on the shelves, all different brands, probably a few hundred boxes on the end cap shelves at the end of the aisles. No sale prices on ammo, all listed at their normal retail price. Sorry I do not remember the prices, but I am sure that it is the same as their catalog price.

The store clerk I talked to also told me that several of the ammunition manufacturers were working overtime to fill the orders of their biggest clients, Cabelas being one of them.

My LGS had some more .380 (Blazer and Blazer Brass), yesterday. They wanted 14.95 for the alumi-case and $15.50 for the brass. I only bought 4 boxes of the brass, though. This gives you an idea of the insane mark-ups going on right now.

My order from Cabelas of only 100 rounds of Remington UMC .45 has been back-ordered since April 22, 2009. Cabelas has told me that their shipments will not arrive until May 29, 2009, and that my order still may not be filled -- based on first come, first served, and not on quantity.

I was about to do what you did and order a small case of ammo, but I saw the boxes on the shelves and RAN with them to the nearest cash register. I couldn't believe my eyes that .380 ammo was sitting on a shelf in front of me!

I called my local WW this morning since I'm going shooting tomorrow and found they had 4 boxes of 100rd WWB, and 20 boxes of Blazer Brass. By the time I got there 20 minutes later they had 7 boxes of Blazer Brass left. I bought the 6 box limit and consider myself a winner! It was 8.97 for a box of 50 in 9mm. They had a few boxes of 45 and nothing else other than 22lr.

    Score!!

    I usually just order from Cabella's on-line.

I picked up 5 boxes of 380 today from Cabela's thanks to my brother. :) Now just have to keep waiting for a LCP.
