When I was carrying a 45 all the time I'd stoke my primary mag (the one IN the weapon) with MagSafe. I load the spare mag with HSTs under most circumstances unless I think I might be heading into "Indian Country" so to speak I may load with RBCD. I realize that most folks here have rather low opinions of both these brands, but I feel comfortable with them both and that is all that matters in the final analysis. I carry the same loads in 9mm which is more often my EDC. On long car trips I'll have the primary and a spare on me and then I'll have a small bag with at least 5 more fully loaded mags PLUS a full box of CorBon DPX +P in whatever caliber I happen to be carrying. Wife knows that in an emergency that requires us to dismount I grab that bag, she grabs the BOB in the back and we each grab a dog as our two Newfoundlands always travel with us. I strongly suspect though that if left to themselves, the dogs will track very closely to us once out of the car. Smart pups they are. I think the MagSafe will offer the best muzzle velocity out of a shorter barrel.
