The Corbon that you purchased will work just fine. My preference, for what it's worth, is the Federal Expanding Point Full Metal Jacket. I like it because it feeds like FMJ, but will reliably expand. There is a concern that should you have to shoot someone who is dressed in heavy clothing, hollow points have a risk of becoming logged with particles of the clothing, and fail to respond. Probably not a major risk, but supposedly it's there. The EPFMJ is a FMJ with a ball of Silicon over a hollow point, that is then covered by the jacket. When the bullet strikes, the silicon ball forces expansion.

I like it just because it does expand like a hollow point, but feeds like FMJ. My XD 45 for some reason won't shoot some brands of hollow points, particularly Wolf ammo. Now a problem with the EPFMJ.

It seems the weight of bullet trumps velocity, by most accounts. I have used 230 grain with great results, and allows me to practice with the same weight, as Wally World carries WWB 230 grain in FMJ. Never had any FTF or FTE with my .45 ACP XD.

I prefer Hormandy but Winchester is probably most available.
With all the high quality hollow points out there why use FMJ? Also there's the penetration aspect to worry about.

Yes they are. I carry a .40 carry or a 9mm most of the time. But for range fun, I really enjoy shooting my .22's.

I have several compacts and subcompacts for carry but for fun, I really enjoy my Walther P22. I just acquired a used Taurus 94 with a 5" barrel. I think my wife will like shooting this 9 shot revolver. Shooting a 9mm, .40 or 1911 pistol is work. I just want to have fun most of the time.

Me personally, I like 230 grain hardball out of my kimber. I 'm sure there is better but it works for me. I can always get it where I live, except the cost is over the top these days.

I like 200gr +P's in my compact .45's; either Gold Dots or Hornady TAP.

They tend to shoot a little better than 230's or 185's. Just my experience.

My personal choice is Federal HST 230's or Winchester Ranger Talon.

My Ruger KP90 uses Winchester White Box 230gr FMJ for the range and WWB 230 gr JHP for defense. Unfortunately Wally-Werld here has stopped, as in will not get any more, handgun or rifle ammo.

I guess I need to find another supply of WWB, or pick another brand for my primary use. I do have 700 rds of Blazer Brass 230gr FMJ that shoots perfectly in myRuger. With 230 gr bukllets in a .45 I don't really think there is much difference in an SD situation between Hardball and Hollow Point. They're both serious impact on the BG.

9mm is a different animal and HP is definitely the way to go, That's just one reason I like my .45 more than either of my 9mms.

    JMNSHO &, of course, YMMV

I'm not a ammo snob, but played one for a while. Pretty much anything that will run through your 45acp will put a hole the size of a dime through an intruder. Put 7 or 8 of them in a nice tight group and you can pass an apple through the it. Just one anywhere in the head will make the intruder forget why he came.
