Does ammunition ever "expire?"

We covered this in class on Saturday! :)
What I was told is that no, it doesn't "expire," but you have to be careful of how it's been stored. Powder can get wet if you store ammo in damp conditions, and if you are near the ocean, salt can corrode metal, etc. So while there is no exp date, always check your ammo. When in doubt, throw it out.
But I'm sure someone here with a LOT more experience can probably answer this better :)

of course. Would you load up your gun with 1910 ammo? I doubt it. As for how long to keep it....Directly depedent on the storage conditions. Moisture in the enemy. Keep it dry and at a consitant temp. and it will last for years. In my humble uneducated opinion however anything over a couple of years old needs to be rotated. This is criticaly true to your carry ammo. Personaly these rounds should not be more that a year old. After all are they in a controled condition? No. They are exposed to the same conditions you are every day.
I carry to protect myself and my loved ones from the BG's. Not to solve societies problems. That said: if more carried the deterrent would only have a positive overall effect on those problems.
Ditto what Maverick said. When stored properly, ammo can last for decades, and be very reliable and safe to shoot. I would avoid outisde, garage, storage shed, etc. ammo storage. I keep mine in a climate controlled safe, indoors.
Double ditto, regarding rotation of carry ammo.
