Where did all the 45 auto ammo go?

I can still get some in the stores around here, but man if they aren't getting emptied almost as soon as they come in. Even MidwayUSA and ABLE etc are out.
    What gives?

Well, a lot of it is in my two safes! I started buying 1.5 years ahead of the curve...DC told me to...

If you patronize a particular gun shop...they could probably get you some. I can't believe you can't find ANY.

    I'm buying it all.

    ...I wish.

I seem to be running into the same problem.

I can still buy some, but last year when I went to buy bullets to reload my hunting rifles, the shelves were stocked full. Now, it is just the opposite.
I am just going to reload I think, cheaper and easier to get. Now my fav store has limits on how much you can buy in one day, even primers and such.

Your a funny man, I think I'll call you Pvt. Joker. You must be joking that .45 ACP is tough to find, HA I laugh at you, HA I laugh again. Try finding .380 ACP thats a tough round to find.

I'm sure you've checked Sportsman Ski Haus in Kalispell, right?

They have WWB .45 ACP 100 round value packs for $52.95 per, which is outrageous, of course.

Yeah thanks Captain, I did check there. I am going to check Snappy's next. I may just get into reloading. I can get bullets, though I don't know yet which one is best. I was looking at Precision Bullets black bullets, Precision Bullets Index Page They have three different types of bullets for .45 ACP. If you click on the products tab upper left hand side, you'll see the choices. I need some advice on this. Personal defense in mind. I want to practice with the same round I plan on daily carry with.

Down barrels and in closets. Demand is high, supply can't meet it for various reasons (mostly cost of production and uncertainty of demand dropping off).

Ya, but wish things would change. I'm looking for .357 Sig. At first it was actually an advantage that I had a less then common round. Not as many people grabbing it.

I've been aggressive in looking for it (at the price I paid 6 months ago). Now, I think I'm out of luck. I see the evidence of 9mm, 40 S&W, and .45 ACP (from a few boxes on the shelves to empty cardboard bulk case packaging). I have even started grabbing calibers I don't even have firearms for (incase a family or friends are in town and we want to go to the range).

I'm thinking there just has to be an end to the shortage, but it just keeps going.

Capt., if you think that is outrageous, you should see the $80-$90 they wants us to pay for that same 100 rnd box of WWB around here. That is OUTRAGEOUS!

I've switched to 9mm and hardly even take the .45 out anymore.

A BUNCH of it is now empty brass awaiting a trip through my loader. A BUNCH more waits patiently on the shelves in my home for its' turn to go out to "play".

I dont have it all, but I have managed to acquire enough over the years to last for the rest of my life and well into the lives of my kids.

A very good friend needed some .45ACP brass a while back and I gave him about 5,000 pieces of once fired MATCH WCC brass I have had for a while. You would have thought I had given him the Hope diamond !
