    For a 1911, I would say GS

I've found that the more rounded nose of the Golden Sabre is closer to the shape of the ball ammo the 1911 was designed for, and therefore will tend to feed more reliably.

I'm kinda like Scott Davies, I'm will to carry any good quality JHP at the moment, about all I can find is 230 FMJ. Good Personal Defense Ammo is really hard to find in my neck of the woods.

My preference is Buffalo Bore Ammo and am presently carrying 200 gr. Speer Gold Dot +P Buffalo Bore in my EDC.

Since I don't have much experience shooting people, and don't know many people who do, I tend to follow the lead of knowledgeable and reputable trainers.

Clint Smith of Thunder Ranch and Dave Spaulding both approve of the use of ball ammo in .45 ACP. It is not over-penetrative like 9mm ball and is a proven man stopper.

Clint also endorses CorBon DPX, and even sells it under his own label. I've never seen a bad review of DPX in any caliber, and it has versions engineered for use in short barreled guns.

So, I carry DPX in my PT145 and my Kel-Tec P3AT but would not feel like my PT145 was inadequate if I had to load it with ball.

I have been qualified in courts as an expert in firearms and firearm injury.

Not meaning to pour cold water on any ammo but what you are shooting at, what type gun you are using and so much more would change which is the best round to use. Take a heavy set man wearing a thick coat, a shirt and undershirt would sustain more injury if hit by a FMJ than any type of hollow point. Firing at someone where the round must penetrate a windshield would be best with a FMJ.

All in all, in years of interviewing gunshot victims, I have never had one ask what caliber, what type bullet or the speed of the round that hit them. I carry one mag in my .45acp and it is loaded alternately with 230 gr FMJ and 230 gr Black Talon. I figure one round ought to stop someone but three certainly would. Using different types gives me a slight edge on halting aggression.
    A 9mm might expand but a .45acp never shrinks.

I think after a 6-year period of dormancy there might be some newer ammo threads worthy of current discussion.
