Can anyone tell me if a 115 gr. fmj 9mm will penetrate through a concrete cinder block when fired out of a 5 inch barrel? Maybe some one can test that for me?
I really doubt it will penetrate in the true meaning of the word. Several years ago I shot some cinder blocks in my backyard with a .41 Magnum. The blocks cracked and broke into several pieces, but it didn't have the effect you'd expect.
I doubt the 9mm would do any better.
I know it won't penetrate a cinder block at 20 feet; It will break the front side it strikes, but then the rest of the block will stop the slug.....
Even a .44 mag had problems blowing up a cinder block. We finally got it to sort of work when we went to a 300 grain hard cast solid slug. All of the HPs we tried didn't get the job done.
No... No shooting in the basement. I wish I had a basement. My house is made of block and was just wondering what collateral damage could happen if there was a self deffense shooting.
