Anyone use these for Self Defense round? I bought a box this morning and was wondering what the opinions were on these.

It's a .357 JHP.
It will leave a mark and require dry-cleaning services.
We've used 38 Special Silvertips. When shooting a critter like a possum, the bullet will go all the way through and expand to about the size of a quarter (but not much energy left, as we've been able to pick up the bullet off the ground on the other side of the suddenly dead cat food thief).
I have 357 Silvertips in one gun at home but haven't grabbed it yet, but I have no doubt it will - as MitchellCT says - require dry-cleaning services.
They are more then adequate for self defense.
I use the 357 ST in both my K frames. Very accurate and shoots to POA in M13. Avgs 1170 fps out of 3" barrel. Doesn't seem as rough on them as full house 125s.
I think the 145 grain Silvertip is a great middle ground between light and heavy .357 Magnum loads. It doesn't seem to be that available around here though. If I could find it more reliably I'd probably carry it in my SP101.

I use them too.....great round. Way easier on the hand.

We carried them in our S&W 686 back in the 80's,At that time they were one of the premium duty rounds in .357

They're generally in my Dan Wesson when he has house duty. I've read that they are best for summer time when BG's are probably wearing light clothing. Due to the thin coating/jacket on the bullet.
Fall and winter type clothing require a stiffer jacket of copper due to probability of encountering heavy fabric. I've not tested this myself.

Thanks for all the info. I bought 100 rounds of them and I really like the way they shoot. Very accurate out of the 3" barrel on my SP101. They also proved fatal to some ferrel hogs that have been tearing up my water troughs.
The muzzle flash is considerably lower than from my old CCI 158gr. JHPs, which is why I keep the Silvertips in my Python for home duty. I've got some JSPs handloads for the woods.
