Corbon 357 DPX in 340 PD
Has anyone fired Corbon 357 DPX in a Smith 340 PD? I've shot the 38 +P DPX in mine and it has much less recoil than the Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel 135 38 +P. I've shot the Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel 135 357 in it and there was too much recoil for fast follow up shots. I've ordered some of the DPX 357, but until it arrives, I thought I'd ask the rest of you on here if any of you have tried it in a 340 and how it felt when you shot it. PLEASE don't answer with "recoil is subjective", I already know that...what I'm looking for is how it feels compared to other 357's in a 340, from people who have actually shot it in a 340.
Thank you,
Coach

One thing different about DPX is that Cor Bon loads to a performance level, not to a velocity level.
CB wants a predictable expansion and penetration, and their ammo is loaded to these targets.

I'll admit, the 135gr 38 +P short barrel gold dots are about the feistiest 38's I've fired in my 340PD.
But, I really couldn't feel any difference in recoil when compared the the 357 version of the same ammo in the 340. There was a big difference in muzzle flash though.
While I am intrigued by the DPX cartridges, I have not had very good experiences with Corbon ammo in general.
I anxiously await your range report.

I have tried to shoot the 340 in 38 and 357 loads. Difficult to control the light frame in 38 +P and definitely 357 mag. Just does not fit my hand etc. Recently acquired a S&W 649 in 357. Full grip and stainless steel frame enables more accuracy for me.
340pd is a great pocket gun but I cannot shoot it reliably.
Good luck with any load.
