    .223 Law Enforcement Duty Load

    Anybody have any thoughts. Were trying to speed up the process of acquiring ammo for our rifles. Chief does not want us to have Hornady TAP rounds. Any thoughts.

    Hornady TAP rounds are good. I would also use anything that used a Ballistic tip bullet, they explode wonderfully in their targets, and are extremely accurate.....

    Not sure why your chief doesn't like Hornady Tap but hey no sense in arguing that point. I would try one of Federals loads then. Look into these
    223A = Hi-Shok Soft Point
    223D = Sierra Hollow Point
    223E = Sierra Boat Tail Hollow Point
    223F = Nosler Ballistic Tip
    223L = Hi-Shock Soft Point
    223TM = Sierra MatchKing Boat Tail Hollow Point

    I hope this helps!!

    We field the Federal 64gr TRU round and are satisfied with its performance.

    It's unfortunate, but typical, that your chief is so misinformed. The 5.56mm (not .223) 75gr Hornady TAP load is the best ammo available from a terminal ballistics perspective. If barrier performance is paramount then the Federal Tactical Bonded 62gr .223 is the best you can do.

    I highly suggest that you read this thread.
