    Excellent ,

This is a guy in the morgues view of the different calibers, and lots of really good add on information on the side. I am half way through this and stopping for a quick break. Instead of GEL tests, he sees the Damage done by the different calibers every day, and explains the damage he has to analyze.

As stated, solid hits beat caliber size. I like .45 ACP for a lot of reasons. I sold my .40 to get another .45. I want more capacity and almost bought either a double-stack Para or a Witness (both in .45 ACP). The former is just too thick for my hands and style of shooting. The latter is a little thinner (marginally) and offers 10+1 capacity. I already have 8+1 and a boat load of magazines so where is the true upgrade?

Shoot what fits and shoot what you shoot well under all conditions. If you second guess yourself, you'll be chasing your wallet for the rest of your life and you might just compromise speed and accuracy.

some of my friends deer hunt with .300 mags cause they think it's better...I killdeer all day with a 6mm, one shot drops...its the shot that counts not the bullet size. That said, I still like a .45 but I carry a .38 or .357

    my personal biased opinion.
.45 is nice but I like more rounds.
9mm has the rounds, but I like more size.
.40 is a compramise of both.
My XDSC it is about right, but I have been eyeing the XDm in .40 because of mag capacity.

so in short, here I go again. just going to have to add another to the stable....
I hate it when that happens.

pick what YOU like. I do not care what it is.

Thanks for the interesting read. Some good info I think in that one.

I play around with lots of guns and calibers because it's been a great hobby for me for 40 years now. Hopefully, what I sacrifice in muscle memory I'll make up in versatility. So, as a confessed addict, I say keep your 357 Sig, get a .40, .45, and a few others to boot.

Seriously, the guns and calibers you're talking about are spectacular--better sidearms than most soldiers or cops have ever carried. Put me in the camp of those who are saying that you can safely drop the caliber concern altogether. Fast, solid hits with anything .38 and above give you pretty good odds, about all you can bargain for in close combat.
