This is a discussion on Corbon - Golden Sabre - Other? (.45acp) within the Defensive Ammunition & Ballistics forums, part of the Defensive Carry Discussions category; +1 Ranger...
230gr Winchester Ranger RA45T is what I carry when I carry a full sized 45. 185gr +P Golden Saber in the compacts.
If a gun will halfway feed ball, it will feed the CB PB.
Really tho, I like the CB DPX better, but carry the PB in my alloy frame commander.
Keep the shotgun handy!!

I think, therefore I am armed.
I suspect any personal defense round in a .45 will do the job, but good placement will rule the day.
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the weaponry to make the difference.
I voted for Golden Saber instead of other, but I meant HST and Ranger. ;)

Taurus Hex. Then the all copper load from Corbon.
My S&W 1911PD Gunsite loves Remington Golden Sabers 230g. I like them also. Felt recoil is quite manageable. The bullet is big, heavy. My daughter thinks the Golden Saber bullets are pretty. Seriously though. I bought them on sale and really liked them and the gun loves them so there you have it.

So waht is the all copper bullet? A Barnes, similar to the triple shock X bullet for rifles?Originally Posted by threefeathers

Rocky - Steve Camp is the fella to really answer this but IIRC the DPX solid is the one and I am sure he posted with some pics not many days ago, following some tests, which were impressive.
Sorry can't dredge up the link right now.

From my viewpoint, feed reliability is the supreme consideration. For that reason, I've settled on 230gr Golden Sabers. They aren't as "hot" as some, nor do they expand as violently. However, they have an ogive that makes them very "feed friendly". (And also have a very small low light flash signature)
As far as their terminal performance goes, that's all about shot placement anyhow. I carry HP's so they don't overpenetrate and accidently kill a bystander - not for any enhanced "stopping power".
I voted "other". Everything's pretty much the same anymore. I'd go with whatever functions best in your pistol; if it's a stock 1911a1 from WWII with issue mags I'd probably choose the Pow'r'Ball, but if it's the latest wiz-bang from your favorite manufacturer with late release mags and everything throated and polished I'd likely choose a more traditional design like the Golden Saber.
Choose what functions best and shoots to POA in your pistol, load up, and be happy :)
