Antifreeze-check, wiper blades-check, ammo?
Hi,
The seasons are starting to change and the temperature is falling. Winter will be upon us soon (except in FL). I was wondering if any of you change ammo for the winter time?
For me, anything .380 or less goes to FMJ where 9mm and above stays at JHP.
This was discussed a year ago under the thread "Different ammo... " that i wanted to bump....but it was closed.
Just thought i bring it up again for any new members who havent thought about it.

JHP in the summer, JHP in the winter. It's easy, breezy, beautiful.

I can kinda see switching out to FMJ for .380 or under with all the extra layers of clothing during the winter. I currently carry my LCP loaded with an alternating FMJ and HP in the mag. Same for my spare mag. As for my .40 I always carry the golden saber HP rounds.

It's FL...year-round, same gun, same ammo, but in the winter I do wear my longer shorts...

Not sure I've ever understood the philosophy of changing to FMJ in the winter. The only concern I've ever heard about HP ammo in the winter is that the cavity may fill up with insulation/clothing and fail to expand. If this happens, it becomes --- a FMJ. So, why switch. If the HP doesn't expand, you've got what you were switching to. If it does expand, it performed as intended. The only exception would be if you are switching to something like the Federal EFMJ though I don't believe that's available in 380.
