That's interesting--can't find a 115gr Gold Dot +P, let alone a +P+, listed on either their Personal Defense product list or their LE product list...

    9MM 115 Gr. Gold Dot??

I am in the Cor-Bon DPX side of the scale and ammo side of things. It works well and I have moved to the all copper bullet (Barnes) side of things for all my "Social Ammo" uses.....

I fired some of the 115gr GD into wet newspaper a while ago. I was wondering about the relatively small size of the hollow point compared to the other weights. In plain newspaper and through thin clothing (2 layers of shop rags and a tshirt) they expanded fine. I have a few hundred rounds stockpiled in my ammo bunker.

In my wife's Glock-26 that load is good for her...I would see no problem using it.

    I have lots (I mean LOTS) of 147 grain 124 grain heavy loads and +P loads for heavier guns/my Glocks/Taurus PT92/Calicos/Marlin 9mm carbine/etc etc,

but in my thin concealed lightweights where recoil matters for followup shots quickly, PT709/PF9/PPS/ (and future Kahr PM9, Archangel MCP, Bersa BP9CC)

    ... I carry ...

    #90250 Hornady Critical Defense® 9mm Luger 115 gr
    or
#23614 Gold Dot Personal Protection 9mm Luger 115 gr

Of course the #90250 is supposed to be the most reliable expander due to the noseplug. I mostly shoot paper plates and haven't compared, but the results I've seen from others are good for both.

My favorite is the DoubleTap 9mm JHP +P 124gr, and they use the Gold Dot bullet. I've tried the 115gr and 147gr variants, as well, with equal reliability and accuracy. Guns: CZ P-01, Browning BDM.

To me, the 115gr feels a tad snappier, and the 147gr feels to have a bit heavier "push" while firing, but otherwise there seems to be little difference.

Your personal defense round is individual decision based on how well you shoot it (115gr) vs other loadings (124-127, 147 gr). If you go look at the GlockTalk forum, Personal Defense discussion forum you'll see that Mas Ayoob recommends and likes the 124gr +p load. He says it combines the best velocity coupled with bullet weight. Mas is a writer appearing in Guns and Handgunner and is a well known "expert" on self defense. I've seen videos over on Utube where different bullet weight loads are tested and it looks to me like the 147gr. hollowpoint is not as dependable as the 124+pgr when it comes to expansion....... But it's really an individual decision.....
