    Try Speer GOLD DOT .38 Spec +P 135 gr GDHP for short barrel personal protection. I was using 158 gr SWCHP +P but these are the BOMB!!

    !58g HP LSWC or 125g HP. If I am going with a 158g bullet I prefer lead. For 125g bullets I like jacketed HP.

    Agreed with this.

    Even if it doesn't expand, the sharp-shouldered LSWCHP will still cut a .38" hole, and the heavier 158gr bullet should have enough momentum to penetrate to vitals.

    I like the Hornady Critical Defense 110 non +P or 125 Nyclads. The Hornady 110's have better penetration. Very accurate ammo.

    I use either GDSB 135 gr +Ps or Corbon DPX 110 gr +P depending on what I can get my hands on when I'm buying because from what I have seen both seem to penetrate/expand well even at lower velocities.
