Fired a box of Hornady Critical Defense Ammo

A couple weeks ago I purchased a box of the relatively new Hornady, Critical Defense, 9MM, 115gr. FTX ammo. I haven't been carrying it yet as I'd heard some negative discussion regarding the primers not firing in smaller automatics. Anyway, today I went to the range and fired off a box through my Kel Tec PF9. Although the rounds seemed to hit a bit higher than my aiming point, I didn't experience any FTF's or FTE's at all and every round went off each time I pulled the trigger. The recoil seemed to be less as well and any PF9 shooter will tell you that's a good thing. Generally, I liked the round and my PF9 which is still fairly new, took them like they were made for it. I'd feel very confident carrying these rounds for self defense.

Thanks for the report. I bought a box for carry and haven't shot any yet. Did you get a chance to look at any of the projectiles after firing to see how it expanded?

    I'm happy with it too.

I also use CD in my G19. I've gone through a little over a box and feel comfortable with it. I enjoy the way it shoots over my plunker ammo. I also did some pseudo-tests and shot through 4 layers of an old pair of jeans into two jugs of half frozen water. I was quite happy with expansion of the bullets I could find.

It's my carry round in the PF9 in 9mm. Along with the 38 special non +P in my Colt and Smith snubs. Never had a failure of any type, only great results and top notch accuracy. So far I have fire about three or four hundred rounds in both guns, mostly 38 special. Good ammo, I like it a lot.

I use it in my 4" Python (357mag) and no problems. Love the look of those red noses peaking out of the end of the cylinder bores. Kinda cute, and comforting, at the same time.

I found them at my local gunshop. In fact I'd never heard of them until the shop owner recommended them to me. I'm gonna' go see if he has anymore . . . I like them.

CD is what I use in my PF-9 no issues. I also use them in my Kel-Tec .380. Run a mag thru both every couple of weeks.
