Discussion on another thread got me thinking about this, and I've been unable to find any good stats on where people are struck when engaged in civilian/police gunfights - that is, chest, abdomen, arms, hands, legs, etc.
Maybe my google-fu is just weak today, but any help would be appreciated.
I used to have such a thing among my bookmarks as related to a study done by a hospital of LEO involved gun shot wounds and survivability in the US. It was a PDF.
But it was from the 90s and the link is no longer in my browser, or I'm not finding it right now in looking.
Stand by as tonight when I have more off-work free time I'll try to ressurect that link (might have it on backup disc from a few years back) or try to locate something new.

It is common to be hit in the hands/arms because that is where people usually focus. They look at the muzzel of the other guys gun and throw lead like crazy while backpeddling. This is what an untrained person frequently does in a gunfight. Strange thing is at very close range, it often works.
