I believe you meant projectile. The bullet is only what shoots out the end of the barrel.

    Yes, possibly in extremes.

Definition fixed ammunition: (DOD, NATO) Ammunition in which the cartridge case is permanently attached to the projectile.

"Round" or "cartridge" includes the cartridge case, primer, powder and projectile. Bullet or projectile is that part which travels down the barrel and exits the muzzle at high speed.

It's only a guess, but I would guess that the OP's reference was to "round" or "cartridge".

I live in FL, grandkids are in IN...I wouldn't worry about rounds stored in a vehicle in either place, in any season.
Now I seldom store anything, except for short periods of time, in my vehicles.

Long-term exposure to heat isn't good for ammo. It will probably still go bang, but not BANG!

Most military long-term stocks of ammo are stored in wooden cases, which is more resistant to heat transfer than metal. Metal ammo containers are usually environmentally sealed also, which the box of .38s in the trunk is not.

It would have to be stored at higher temperatures than one is likely to encounter in this country for a long time - months, at least - before the heat will have any measurable effect upon the rounds.

Sealing will have little, if any, noticeable effect on anything stored less than several years.
