Yep, I've always checked inside the box. I guess I want to make sure it is full, ha ha. I do look to make sure what is in the box matches the label. I look at the primers too. I bought some .38 special lead round nose for the range last Saturday and the gal behind the counter even opened the box for me.

Good for her. That's the way it should be.

It would be too dangerous for me to ask a girl behind the counter If I could get a look at those 38's with my wife standing next to me

Store I go to prohibits opening boxes.
Sig 226, 228. Glock 19, 23. Smith Model 60,and 1911. XD45 Tactical. Mossberg 930 SPX.
How we behave as gun owners is important. Posturing and threatening does not serve us well in the public eye.

Can't say I have ever checked my ammo like eggs before leaving the store. I do so at home but have wondered whether or not various places may have a you open it you buy it policy.

They make no sense. They won't let you look at it first... but they take no returns on ammo

Not in the store but I inspect before I shoot them. I had one box of UMC 40 cal hollow points that had two bullets seated too deep and they stood out. Other then that, never had any issues.

I do it too. I look at the primers and if there's an odd bullet or two seated deeper in the case than it should be.

I check to be sure the box is full, I have had problems with that issue in both the LGS and big stores.

Checking new Ammo Bought??
I chamber check every round I buy for Practice or Social Use plus every round I Reload for target and Competetion use. In the last month I CCQC (Chamber Checked Quality Checked) 1200 rounds of Winchester White Box ammo bought at Wally World over a period of 3 months to get that amount with the quantity restrictions. I found 1199 rounds good to go and 1 round with a Sealed Primer and NATO Headstamp in the WWB Box. How does 1 round of Nato Ammo get into the regular box of WWB at the Factory??? I also CCQC my own reloaded ammo and find that 1 of 300 rounds does not CCQC. I also process all of my 40S&W brass thru my Redding G-RX push thru die before reloading it. I also have an after market fully supported chamber 40S&W barrel in my G35 gun.

I always check the box, I figure for the price of a box of ammo at some point or another there will be a hot blond supermodel hiding inside waiting to go home with me..so check...it might be your lucky day

I check everything before it goes into my weapon, otherwise, it just slows me down.

I always check. My local range pushes Magtech. I've had way too many rounds with corroded projectiles and chunks of brass missing.
