Regardless of who you are or where you are at as a shooter, the study of this amazing lawmans life and his skill with the 357 magnum is a very interesting read that I think you all would find informative and can learn from. I remember my grandfather talking about him and attending the funeral years ago. He is not as well known as many, but may have very well been one of the greatest gunfighters in any era of our history. Just google and read. This is one that Hollywood should do.
Dave James, who is a member here is the one to talk to. He received personal training from Mr Bryce.
I just read "Legendary Lawman: The Story Of Quick Draw Jelly Bryce" last week. Is there an additional book out about him?
He was an interesting, if not sympathetic character. Didn't have an exactly winning personality but perhaps that may be forgiven him considering his chosen career.

Sadly, if Jelly were alive today, he would be haunted by the press as worse than criminal, inhumane and blood thirsty, suspended indefinitely pending investigation and probably fired for his final solution to apprehending law breakers. There was a MAN!
I posted a piece on him here a couple years ago. IIRC one of our members here is also a relative of his. A great nephew or something.

You are the renaissance man for sure. I knew I liked you for some reason. I love books too, love to collect books, and read even more than I "forum." When I was younger, if it was a book then I'd have it. Didn't matter that it was a raggy, used paperback edition. These days I try to acquire hardback editions but the Bryce book was a gift. Both my wife and I would rather read or listen to music than watch television. Matter of fact we never got around to converting our old television set back in 2008. Now it is only used for watching old movies on DVD or, horrors, VCR.
Lol, I just had my DTV disconnected. Don't miss it, more quality time with wife and more reloading time.
Off the subject of Mr. Bryce but, while we were never really television oriented, we really found out how meaningless it is, once we moved in 2008 and then the broadcast change took place. Never did the cable/satellite thing. I'm a news junky but can read more up to date news from sources of my choosing and consume it faster by using the internet than I can absorb while listening to the blather and commercials on network TV.
I love reading too, working my way through "The Death of Warren Baxter Earp : A Closer Look; by Michael M. Hickey. Hard book to read, not because of comprehension, because the dang thing must weigh 6 pounds [it's 12 1/4" x 9 1/4" x 2 1/2"]. :wink:Quote:
