The Future of the Gun by Frank Miniter

"The history of the American gun is intricately entwined with the history of America itself. Promising developments in gun technology could change not only America's future, but the future of the world. Unfortunately, the radical anti-gun lobby is standing between innovation and the American people. Bestselling author Frank Miniter details the amazing breakthroughs waiting to happen in gun technology that could make today's firearms exponentially safer and smarter—if the anti-gun lobby weren't halting progress in its tracks." Amazon introduction.

"In The Future of the Gun, you will learn:

    > Why anti-gun groups often oppose gun safety features
    > How guns—and gun education for young people—cut crime
    >How federalism could save your gun rights
    >New trends in gun technology that will make guns safer and more effective
    > Why most talk about “assault rifles” is bogus
    >How military and civilian gun technology have always advanced in tandem—for the benefit of soldiers and private citizens
    > What guns could look like in just a few years"

Needless to say there are some debatable issues here, but I'm certain it's worth the risk to see what y'all believe concerning this POV.
I'm not promoting this book, just putting it out there for the "uninformed voter."

I honestly didn't think it was all that great. Not because he said anything I necessarily disagree with, but because Miniter's book kind of suffered the same problem that a lot of journalists (conservative and liberal) suffer when they do a book like this- they preach to the choir with arguments that are really only convincing if you already agree with them, string together anecdotes without making a coherent story, and you never get a sense that they're actually going anywhere with the book.

if he's talking the typical "smart gun", he's full of it. Those things are intended to fix us up so that we can't use a gun to teach our women and kids to shoot, because only the owner can fire it.
