Farnam and one shot from concealment drills - videos [NSFW - language]

Figured this was a good place to post some drills I ran at a class.

Farnam Drill - 7.67 seconds, AIWB w/ G17L, 7yards, a-zone - 1 mag fully loaded in whatever position you would normally reload from, 1 mag with 5 live rounds and a snap cap, snap cap cannot be first or last. On buzzer, draw from concealment and engage A-Zone target at 7 yards, clear the malfunction, slide lock/reload with full mag engage with two follow up shots, time for total run.

Holy Moly. That's the largest appendix carry pistol I've ever seen. How do you sit with that?

I do not carry the 17l, I was breakin it in during the class. Difficult to run a gun that long, but it worked out.

The holster is a prototype wulfberht holster. You can see more pix under the reviews tab of my blog.

In gun fighting school they teach you to check for anyone else that needs to get shot so you look left and right. He did not check his 6 though but if he had it would have been using Suel (can't spell it but know what it is). This is also known as the 360 degree scan.

I understand the reason to check all around, scanning is very important. However you are not just looking to see who else needs to be shot, you are looking to see what everyone else is looking at and if you, are like me, you rarely work alone and usually need to see where your team mates are and what they are potentially shooting at.

It is also a good drill to break tunnel vision.
