As for those who want on the list, just copy the newest list and put your name on the bottom.
Actually, I haven't sent any out yet because nobody contacted me after my post. I wanted to make sure to send to somebody who (1) hadn't gotten it yet and (2) was still interested.

So, I have copies for the next people on the list who speak up and let me know!

I would suggest being more proactive than that. As is clear from the attempts made by many of the other folks, lots of people simply drop off the list, fail to continue monitoring this thread, and so on. I recommend going after each person on the latest list, one by one, until you hook up with someone who wants it. Else, the books might never ever make the rounds.

This is one of Massad Ayoob's classic books on the realities of self-defense and the justifiable use of deadly force. Well worth the read, if you've never done so. A bit dated in places, but otherwise it's exceptional coverage of a tough topic.

Am looking for a DC member who:

    • Has never read this book;
    • Is ready to read it now; and
    • Will forward it to another person (here) who will do the same.

    Sound like you?

The first "I'll take it" gets it.

I must say.....excellent of you to offer such a thing in the first place. This book no matter how outdated, is a must read for every forum member here. I have a copy myself, and it's never going to leave my sight. Kudos to you!

I've had a couple dozen, over the years. Generally, I have a few on hand so that I can pass one along to a needy friend (you know ... someone needing to read up on the principles, the pros/cons). Yes, some of it is dated. But it's got so much excellent material for any person new to defensive arms that it's a must-read.

I'm hopeful that many folks will end up with their own copy at some point in the near future, upon having read it for the first time. As you say, it's a keeper for the library. Nicely, we've got a few additional copies floating around on the list as well. Kudos to the folks that have offered these up.

As of August 14, here is the list.

As you finish your copy, keep contacting people on the list who haven't already read it, until you find a person who is ready to read it.

Please keep the list updated with another posting of the full and complete list to that point, if you either (a) add yourself to the list or (b) forward your copy to someone else. This will help keep things straight. Thanks, all.

Okay, I just sent out a slew of PMs to everyone from santa01 on down in the list. I asked them to ping the thread to let us know they are still interested and to subscribe to it so we don't have to chase people around quite so much...

I am still very much interested in picking up a copy of the book. I'm not sure what you meant by ping tho.

I'm still very interested as well. I check back occasionally to see if the list is getting down my way. I really appreciate everyone's willingness to share and pass it along.

My "ping" of a day or two ago would be my "I'm still interested". Thanks kazza (and others) for your work in keeping this moving.

Sorry, computer geek term---a ping is just an "I'm alive" message. I know some people on the list have been keeping their noses in the thread; but based on the slew of posts about people having trouble contacting the next folks on the list, I thought a general status update would help.

I will be sending out my copies by the end of the week to whoever is highest on the list and still seems to be alive.
