Need detailed drawing info...
Good Morning/Afternoon All,
As my FIRST post here on this website, I was wondering if a book exists that contains "Detailed" drawings (with dimensions, etc.) of 1911's.
I'm looking to do a 3D, Computer Aided Design drawing (AutoCad), and I would need the above info to complete said drwg.
I know I could take my Kimber apart and do a bunch of measuring, but I'm not sure it would be accurate enough.
Any help in this would be helpful, THANKS

Would this help?

Thanks for all the warm welcomes...
After checking out the above site, while it's a pretty detailed graphic and all, I was really looking to find information as to actual sizes not so much as to how the gun "works".
I'll keep looking around and thanks again to the "welcoming committee".

I do not have a copy of this, but from the description you should be able to get all of the specs from "The U.S. M1911/M1911A1 Pistols Volume 2" By Jerry Kuhnhausen.
The description says in part "This brand new superbook is absolutely loaded with new & updated material, parts dimension & hardness specs, and the nuts and bolts tech data required to dimensionally inspect, restore, repair & build super accurate, super reliable, "blueprint" quality carry and competition grade M1911's."

Kuhnhausen is probably going to come the closest to what you need. I just flipped through mine, and I don't think everything includes dimensions, but there are a lot. There are also shop diagrams for everything, so it would be easier to get your measurements off those than off a real gun in parts, anyway

You might want to call Colt Firearms.
When the Colt 1911 was contracted out to SINGER & Union Switch & Signal...etc. in order to increase production they were all provided with working drawing that were to scale.
Now that is going back in time a ways but, they do exist.

I have the detailed working drawings complete with dimensions if you want them.
Or you can download from here...

and another with more info than most can stand about the 1911..
